Onward and upward

We just left the 4th floor PICU a short time ago and have settled into our new room on the 10th floor.  There is an incredible view of downtown Baltimore from here, looking out toward the Chesapeake Bay.

Jacob had a pretty good day today - other than a few challenges with the NG tube.

Pain management continues to go well.  His bowls/colon are still asleep, so only IV fluids until they wake up.   The general surgery team came around and checked out his colostomy.   They seemed pleased with the progress thus far.

Good night, everyone.

May the Lord bless you and keep you.

Afternoon update

Due to an ongoing shortage of beds/rooms, Jacob remains in the PICU.  He has had a good day and is actually sitting up in a chair at the moment.  He did, however, just doze off, but we are thankful he was able to get out of the bed (he didn't want to, but it really helps keep his stomach/sinuses/chest cleared out).

Trust in The Lord for He is good.

Morning update

Jacob had a very good night - seemed to sleep well and the pain management was spot on.  Mommy and Daddy alternated between the sleeper sofa and recliner chair - not extremely comfortable, but much better than the old hospital building.  And both of us were able to stay with him.

He is free to move around some and talk, although he has mostly resorted to pointing and nodding.  We've tried to get him to talk - and those who know him well know that he doesn't like to talk at all (ha, ha - good one).  Seriously, though, we think that the reason he isn't speaking yet is because of the NG tube.  Once that comes out, we imagine he'll again be singing, "Eye of the Tiger" (he and James both took a liking to this song from the Rocky movies).

As far as we know, there still aren't any rooms available on the floor, so we will hang out in the PICU for awhile longer.

Our primary prayer requests are for ongoing good pain management, a bowel awakening, return to a regular diet and healing/proper functioning of all of the urinary related tubes and stents currently in place.

Please also pray for James and our wonderful family here close by, with whom he is staying (Aunt RoRo, Gran ((who has not been feeling well - please pray for her, too)) Papa, Uncle Ron and cousins Ronnie, Joshua and Kate).

Make your requests known to the One and Only, the King of Glory - Jesus, Our Lord
